Northern Team:

Pakistan Relief - ChildAfter 18 hours the truck full of ration packs reached a remote town in the north. Our team walked 20km to reach people as the road was badly damaged, planning to distribute 250 packs. Unfortunately they could only distribute 160 due to riots and the police were called in. The authorities provided guards to control the situation. The following day a man confessed “I was the one responsible for that sad incident. I feel guilty please forgive me.” He gave his details to the team and insisted they visit his home. Later the team told all the people ‘we are Christian and the reason we come to help you is because we love you and Essa (Jesus) told us to love one another.’  The team were able to distribute the rest of the food packs.

160 families returned to their badly damaged homes but others are still living in a local Christian School. As they left many expressed their thanks for your support and standing with them. They said, “We cannot forget this for the rest of our lives.” The team distributed food packs to a further 300 families and 115 patients received treatment.

In Ramadan it is forbidden to eat outside. After the distribution, team members were very hungry. It was afternoon and no food was available. Suddenly a man came to them and insisted they go to his home. He said “We have prepared a meal for you, I know you are not Muslim but you need food, please come to my home and eat.”

Sindh Team:

Thank God that the team leader is better and has returned to work.

Team members visited rural areas of Hyderabad and Kotri where the water level is still very high. Our target is to adopt 200 families and provide them with food and medical help for 2 weeks.  The Medical teams are mainly treating acute diarrhoea, acute respiratory tract infections, skin infections and high fevers.

2K Walk SignWhich Australian town has the highest annual rainfall?   ... the town we were in yesterday - Tully!! I remember being impressed by the amazing statistics as a child, but I never dreamed that one day I'd walk down this highway decked out in water-proof boots and rain-coat!!

Annual rainfall here is 4000mm per year ... yep, 4 metres!! Even as I wrote this, the rain was beating down on the roof of our little caravan park cabin, and today we are out walking in it again.

Last night at our meeting I gave a message on the words of Jesus, "God makes the rain to fall on the righteous and the unrighteous". Great words that remind us that God doesn't have favourites. His love is the same for ALL peoples and for ALL language groups. You could almost be forgiven for thinking otherwise, considering the fact that there are over 100 different translations of the Bible in English and over 2000 distinct languages have NOTHING ... not a single verse. But that discrepancy is due to OUR ethnocentricity and not to favouritism on God's part.

This week meet the team at:
