By Rebecca Barnhart

Disillusioned with Islam, Nadia* fasted and cried out to God for eight years, hoping to find Him. Her life was falling apart – with an alcoholic husband and trouble children – and felt that she didn’t want to go on. But, God heard her cries and had plans to bring her into the Kingdom.

Enter Frances*, a new worker fluent in the language who met Nadia one month after arriving in the country. The two women began studying the Bible several times a week. Frances didn’t have a formal study program, but “prayed for God to guide me.” The Lord led Frances to teach Nadia different Bible stories and then challenge her to draw lessons from the stories. Nadia was hungry to learn and read the Bible on her own, as well. In fact, when friends and family interrupted her study time, Nadia would tell them to come back. “Normally (Muslim seekers) wouldn’t want others to know and see us study the Bible, but she didn’t mind,” Frances added.

During another study time, Frances and Nadia prayed out loud and Nadia’s neighbor, a strict Muslim, overheard the prayers and scolded Nadia for praying to Jesus...

Caring for displaced Pakistanis Print Email
International News

As militants have been actively challenging the authority of the Pakistani Government, the Pakistan Army has launched a counter offensive.

This has forced people living in these areas to flee to safer places, where the government has established camps in order to accommodate the refugees. Hundreds of thousands are temporarily residing in extremely basic camps, waiting for support to meet their daily basic needs. The displacement figure is now over 2,000,000 people.

Our team, together with our relief and development partner organisation, has visited four of these camps to try to meet some of these displaced people, assess their needs, and attempt to work out how they might provide relief for their immediate needs in a practical way.

The four different camps house 3,336 families, approximately 21,105 people. Two of the camps have been established by a church specifically to look after Christian refugees.

These people ran from their houses to these camps, when forces lifted the curfew in the region. They were unable to bring much in the way of basic supplies with them.  Our teams would like to help them by providing: - food parcels, clean water containers and bedding and other essential items.

An appeal has been launched for these internally displaced people; we hope that our response will show God's love to those needy people in Pakistan.
